According to 90 min, Pedro Neto is keen to join Arsenal after the north Londoners emerged as serious contenders for the Portuguese international. Wolverhampton Wanderers’ asking price is proving difficult for the move to conclude, although the Gunners are expected to push on to sign the winger.
Nicolas Pepe is closing in on a loan switch to OGC Nice, and Mikel Arteta will be expected to bring in a replacement for the Ivory Coast international. The Gunners have been in the hunt for a wide attacker from the early days of the summer transfer window, and they initially missed out on signing Raphinha from Leeds United.
Pedro Neto emerged on their radar, with Arsenal opening talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over a potential transfer. The Midlands outfit have already lost a few attacking talents in this window, although they have signed a few quality players such as Goncalo Guedes and Matheus Nunes.
Guedes’s signing, in particular, was rumoured to probably allow Wolves to be open to selling Neto. The 22-year-old Portuguese international could have been the concerned player, as Arsenal reportedly talked with the club for over a month.
Now, Neto is keen on moving to Arsenal and could push to get a deal done. But Wolves’ £50 million asking price is a stumbling block for the Gunners, who remain uninterested in overpaying for their preferred target. Arsenal considered an offer of around £35 million, although they could change their stance.
