Everton loanee Theo Walcott was a regular in the Southampton XI before his hamstring injury earlier this year and he has not been able to enjoy same since returning from injury. Theo Walcott is on a season-long loan with the Saints from Everton. He made his return from injury in the FA Cup semi-final tie with Leicester City last month after missing several weeks of football.

Walcott came on as a second half substitute in that FA Cup clash but he was unable to save his team from the jaws of defeat at the hands of the Foxes. In-form Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored the only goal in a 1-0 to take Leicester City into the final against Chelsea. The two teams meet at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday to decide the FA Cup winners for this season.

Since his return from injury against the Foxes, Theo Walcott has struggled for a place in the Southampton XI. He was left on the bench for 90 minutes as his teammates showed character to recover from conceding an early goal to the in-form Christian Benteke. The Belgian international gave the Eagles the lead on two minutes before the home team recovered with three goals to win the game.

Ings weighed in with a brace either side of the halftime break while his strike partner, Che Adams got the other goal three minutes into the second half.

The comeback win pushed Southampton three places up the table to 14th spot with 40 points. They are now one point and one place off Crystal Palace on the log.
