SOUTHAMPTON SECURE FIRST LEAGUE WIN

Southampton are up and running in the new Premier League season following their first win of the season. The Saints secure their first three points in the new Premier League campaign thanks to the slender win over Leeds United. Southampton didn’t win any of their first seven league games of the new season before they played hosts to Leeds United at the St. Mary’s Stadium in one of the round eight games played on Saturday.


Albanian international striker Armando Broja proved to be the man who made the difference for Southampton as they recorded a big win over the Whites.Broja scored the only goal of the game to give Southampton a 1-0 win over a depleted Leeds United side.Broja is on loan at the South Coast club from Premier League leaders Chelsea having joined on a season-long loan deal this summer. Southampton winger Theo Walcott didn’t have the best of months in the Premier League in August 2021. The Saints have started the season badly with two points from their first three league matches. Theo Walcott has been largely anonymous whenever being called upon by manager Ralph Hassenhuttl.

The English Premier League will continue to fight the acts and every other form of racism in the country and a lot of players have confirmed that they will continue to use their positions to advocate for the abolishment of the unacceptable behavior by some sections of fans of the league’s clubs. Last season, a lot of players agreed to start taking the knee and raising one of their fists in the air to raise awareness about the fight against every firm and act of racism that often gets directed at some of the players that play for different clubs in the league.

While a lot of people have kept insisting that racism cannot end in football, others believe that there should be at least a symbol or something close that would keep reminding the general public that it is a bad habit and that a stop has to be put to it.

WALCOTT: SAINTS CAREER EXAMINED

Theo Walcott came through the youth system at Southampton before making his debut for the club as a teenager. Also, he set the record for the youngest appearance maker for the Southampton reserve team. His first appearance for the reserve team was at the age of just 15 years and 175 days against Watford in September 2004. Before then, Walcott had starred for the Saints as they reached the FA Youth Cup final against Ipswich Town.

Walcott didn’t make a single appearance for the Saints first team as they suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2004/05 campaign. He was in the Southampton team for their pre-season tour ofScotland just two weeks after finishing school. Theo Walcott made his debut for the Saints first team during the goalless draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at home at the age of 16 years and 243 days thus setting a new record for the youngest appearance maker in the history of the senior team. His first start was an away game against Leeds United and he celebrated the occasion with a goal in the 2-1 defeat for the Saints.

WALCOTT, AN UNUSED SUBSTITUTE IN VICTORY

Experienced Southampton winger Theo Walcott sat on the substitutes’ bench for the entire duration of the league encounter with London club  Crystal Palace at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday night. The ex-Arsenal star was an unused substitute as Southampton came from behind to beat the Eagles thanks to two goals from Danny Ings.

Everton loanee Theo Walcott was a regular in the Southampton XI before his hamstring injury earlier this year and he has not been able to enjoy same since returning from injury. Theo Walcott is on a season-long loan with the Saints from Everton. He made his return from injury in the FA Cup semi-final tie with Leicester City last month after missing several weeks of football.

Theo Walcott was not part of the Southampton team that returned to winning ways for the first time in a little over two months. The injured Walcott missed out as Southampton beat bottom club Sheffield United 2-0 to end a run of nine games without a win in the league. Theo Walcott was part of the Southampton squad that secured the last win before the barren run that was ended against Sheffield United at the weekend. The last victorybefore the nine-game winless run was the 1-0 success at home to Premier League champions Liverpool and Theo Walcott was named in the starting line-up for the game that saw visible emotions at full-time for Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl after he got his first win over mentor JurgenKlopp.Ex-Liverpool striker Danny Ings did the damage to his former team with the only goal of the game.After that Liverpool game, Theo Walcott and Southampton picked up a solitary point from nine games and the 27 points on offer in the Premier League. The point was from the 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea at the end of last month.

Southampton winger Theo Walcott won’t return to the Saints squad for the Chelsea game at the weekend according to his manager, Ralph Hassenhuttl. The Southampton boss spoke to media portal HampshireLive about Theo Walcott and some of his Southampton teammates.


He gave an update on the injury status of Theo Walcott and the other Southampton players in the physio room. Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl has had to manage a big injury crisis in his squad especially ahead of the recent league visit to Manchester United, which ended in a 9-0 thumping for his team. Southampton winger Theo Walcott enjoyed a successful return to the Emirates Stadium as he made a scoring return in the colours of the Saints. After the game, the ex-Arsenal player delivered a brutal assessment of the state of things at his former club. Theo Walcott scored in the first half to give Southampton the lead in the week 12 league clash. He raced clear of the Arsenal defence before finding the back of the net with a delightful dink over the onrushing Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno. His goal was what separated hosts Arsenal and Southampton at the interval.


Arsenal had a poor first half as they were dominated by the Saints but they improved at the start of the second half and were rewarded with the equaliser courtesy club skipper Pierre-EmerickAubameyang. The Gabonese international has struggled for goals in the Premier League this term and that was only his third goal of the season in the league. Southampton winger Theo Walcott made a scoring return to the Emirates Stadium after he found the back of the net with the opening goal of the game between Arsenal and the Saints. The England international has been able to resurrect his ailing career at Southampton following his loan move from Everton in the summer. Theo Walcott left the Toffees for his former team on a temporary move after he became surplus to requirements at Goodison Park.


Theo Walcott his first goal for boyhood team Southampton in the Premier League during the recent draw with hosts Wolves. He scored the only goal for the Saints as the two teams shared two goals. He struck his second goal for Southampton in the Premier League by opening the Saints’ account at Arsenal. Theo Walcott raced on to a pass from Southampton striker Che Adams and clear of the static Arsenal defence before dinking the ball over the onrushing Bernd Leno in goal for the Gunners.
